On the eve of Election Day, I have a little advice. Don’t run away just yet, and for my international friends here, I promise this will resonate with you as well.
America is a great nation. Regardless of election results, America will continue to fight for freedom, for rights, for the oppressed, for the neighbor, for the immigrant, for the future.
You know why? Because it’s you and I who get to do so.
As citizens and more importantly, as believers, we carry the right and responsibility. We elect our officials, but then we do the work.
We’ve bought into the lie that if a particular person doesn’t win, all hope is lost.
Where is your hope? If it’s in a political figure or party or leader, it’s misplaced. Believing that an individual is going to carry out morality for us means that we’ve bought into some lies. No single person will fulfill all they promise, nor will they meet all of our expectations. They will fail you.
So don’t pretend like casting your ballot was your one-and-done act for the next 4 years. Cast your ballot, then GO AND DO.
Because regardless of whether or not “your person wins” tomorrow, you are still responsible for your actions the next day.
And the next.
And the next.
Do you care about the rights of the unborn? Find a ministry or organization that fights for them and run alongside them.
Do you care about the wellbeing of our neighbors, whether foreign or domestic? Then find a ministry or organization serving that population and partner with them.
*Insert cause/policy/right you believe in here,* find others doing that and link arms.
Complaining is not the same as contributing.
Rioting is not the same as standing up for what you believe in.
Hiding away is not the same as being a peacemaker.
So put your hope in Jesus, cast your ballot, then go and do!
Do the work. Fight the good fight. Every single day.
I’m praying for you today.
I’m praying for our nation today.
I’m praying for our leaders today.
The Church is still the Church. Jesus is still on the throne. So let’s do this!

I just felt like I should tell you this – I pray the blessing over you every day (all my grandchildren) that the Lord will bless and keep you in your comings and goings and that he will go before, behind and beside you. I pray the Lord will protect you there in this big crazy world and that you will always be aware of your surroundings and what’s going on around you! I am concerned for our country and the direction it may go in.
I have a hard time putting my thoughts and feelings in to words, so hope you know what I’m trying to say.
